The Power of Schmooze Awards
In the spirit of rewarding those gifted with the Power of Schmooze, my new friend and I have decided to create an award to recognize those people that were exceptionally adept at creating relationships with other bloggers by making an effort to be part of a conversation, as opposed to a monologue. Mike made a great badge for the recipients of this award to post on their blogs, and I am very excited to be presenting the first round of awards along with Mike. These bloggers have all worked hard to build a reputation for themselves by commenting on other blogs, participating in blogging communities, replying to comments left on their blog and overall just doing their part to interact with other bloggers. Read Mike’s post about the and see who he has presented the award to.
Here are my 5 recipients of the Power of Schmooze Award. Most of them blog in the same neighbourhood as me, and I am very pleased to be able to present them with this award.
- It is funny that I am presenting the award to the person who actually made the award, but I could not help it. Mike is a very friendly blogger, and he makes an effort to visit other blogs, and leave comments when his interest is peaked. He has a few blogs that he maintains, and he almost always replies to comments. One of the founding fathers of the iReply movement, Mike is extremely skilled in the Zen art of schmoozing. Sorry Mike! :P But you’ve won your own award.
- One of the first bloggers I began to interact with, Matt always replies to comments on his blog. He is always very friendly and eager to assist other bloggers in their various quests, and though his entrepreneurial blog is relatively new, he has quickly gained popularity by flexing his schmooze muscles.
- A very friendly and interesting woman, I met Zhu in a blogger forum. Very helpful and always keen on participating in various blogging activities. She has provided me and others with some great advice in that forum, and she enjoys interacting with other bloggers on and off her blog.
- This blogger, though new to me, is a very nice, positive guy who signs each comment with “Shine On”. An overall friendly guy, Aaron Cook makes an effort to interact with those that visit his blog by stopping by their own blog.
- I see this blogger everywhere I go it seems. Spud visits blogs and loves interacting with other bloggers. He promotes the efforts of other bloggers, and is keen on giving back to the blogging community. A Schmooze Expert, in my opinion.
Now these Schmooze-tastic bloggers have to pass the award along to five more people that have shown their ability to enter into the huge online conversation that is the “blogosphere”. :)

Well, I was not sure if it was appropriate for me to award you with the award you had helped me create but I could not help it because you deserve it so much!
And I wanted you to be surprised!
I am sure if I had not given the award to you, you would have received it anyways… but I could not wait that long. :P

Haha…well I’m honored to receive the very award I helped create with you :P
You certainly deserve one as well and if I’d known we were going to cheat and give them to each other, I would have :D
Now I’m feeling bad because I didn’t cheat…lol.

I don’t know if my schmooze muscles are near as big as yours… And stop saying I cheated! I am just glad I got to do this with you, so don’t feel bad at all.:P
BTW - How do I let my non-cheaty recipients know? Do I leave a comment in their blog, or do I just wait for them to see in Technorati?

Hehe…that’s a good question :P If they’re using Wordpress there’s a good chance they’ll see a ping in their dashboard because you’re linking to them. Actually I guess that grabs its info from Technorati, right?
I suppose you could just go tell them. That might be quicker ;D

Yes, I will go tell them I think - I am very impatient and excited for them to know.

Well congratulations! You deserve it absolutely, and I was so glad to present you with this award. Have fun presenting your awards - I really enjoyed selecting my recipients, and I am sure Mike did as well.
I think it is a pretty cool idea, as well. Not just because Mike and I are responsible for the creation of it, but because awards are fun to give and get, and it is a nice way to recognize bloggers who make an effort to mingle with others.

Hey hey! I didn’t even know I had Schmooze, and now I get an award for being a “Schmooze Expert”! How cool is that?!
Thanks Danielle. It feels good to be Schmoozed.

I figure the best Schmoozers don’t even really know they are schmoozing. It just happens naturally!

Wow, thanks Danielle! I just recently got back online - some lovely Florida lightning totally sizzled my modem (long story), so I’m just now getting a chance to see this post.
You must know that your kind words here do indeed mean a lot. Plus, it’s always great to see how we as bloggers are perceived by our fellow bloggers.
So I’m glad to know that someone who’s just recently encountered me, and who doesn’t yet know me in person, can describe me in such favorable ways. Like I said, it means a lot. :)
Shine on,
Aaron
PS: Keep your eyes peeled for a lovely mention on my blog. ;)
