Pretending to be a girl is sort of creepy
So I read this post on blog that defines Pink SEO as pretending to be a girl to get links and to get stumbled and so on. I don’t really think that is what Pink SEO is about, personally. Pink SEO is great for blogs because it is about social networking, but I believe it is practiced just as frequently by men as by women. Pretending to be a woman to get stumbled is sort of creepy.
I like this better personally. Pink SEO is something that is practiced by both men and women, and it is perfect especially for bloggers and Pink SEO is all about social networking. Not being a girl. Look at . :P
I would call the pretending to be a girl more some other kind of SEO, like red or some other sexy colour for the prostituting pictures of women? Is that going too far
Why it is not okay to pretend you are a girl:
- I already mentioned the creepy factor.
- Women are more than the sum of their parts. Have enough respect for women not to pimp pictures of these parts to get people to link to or stumble.
- I did not realize I had things easier. I will let you know when I do. :)
- Your blog should sell itself and resorting to using this approach seems to be a pretty last ditch effort.
I hope people don’t actually do this. Do they? Lame.

Hehe…I don’t have to pretend be a girl, some people already mistake me as one :/
Admit it, Danielle. You’re actually a balding man in his late 40s who blogs in stain-ridden boxers while munching on Cheetos and listening to Air Supply ;)

Ew… Cheetos are gross. Fortunately that is not the case because that was a pretty ugly image. :P

You don’t like Cheetos? :-o
I wandered over and read that post on the GrumpyCoder site. Someone actually accused you of being a guy :P

Nah, I didn’t peg you, Danielle, for being a 40-year old man as Mike describes…at least not with Cheetos. No, I envisioned you with dill pickle chips on your forehead and burrito fillings on your shoes. ;)
And I don’t know, maybe the beard’s throwing me off, but I could swear if Mike shaved it off, we all might be suprised! LOL
Okay, stupid alert: “pink hat SEO” is really a term? I figured it was just a clever name you came up with. I’ve heard of white and black hat SEO. Guess I need to get out more. :)

@Mike - So offended by the fact someone said that though - I mean honestly these guys clearly have proven that they would not know what to say to a girl if they had the opportunity to talk to one.
@Mark - No Pink SEO is not something I came up with, but it is not really regarded as one of the types of SEO (yet). There are a few people (girls) that are promoting this idea… but really using social media to network is a great way to market your blog. People have been doing this for a long time really. It’s about charisma not what parts you have “down there”.

They’ve most certainly proved that, Danielle ;P Some people just can’t seem to get by in a day without intentionally insulting or offending others =/
Just keep doing what ya do, Danielle. Who cares what some people think. You’re not only doing a great job of promoting yourself but making great new friends along the way :)

Oh… Luck you. I was treated as a gay man.
At least you were treated as girl. Are you a girl?
Why would I care? I just like PINK color.
Do whatever you do. Hey… are you really going for the Crouggs?
If you don’t, I might .. ;-)

The Cruggs idea is all yours - but I want a pair if you end up doing it! :D
Yes I am indeed a girl. And pink is a great colour! It’s the colour of bubble gum, and bubble gum is fantastic!

Since when being a woman makes thing easier ? Hum… except when it comes to X-rated stuffs, I just can’t think of one example !
I don’t read you because we’re both women. I read Pink SEO cause it’s interesting, catchy, cause you explain things in simple language that I actually understand after a day spent conjugating French verbs, because I like the design of the blog, because you’re a nice person, because… well, so many reasons, but I don’t feel you blog for women only !

Dan,
The gig is up. The brilliant GrumpyCoder has discovered your secret. You might as well change everything about your site and your friendly nature and just embrace being an overweight and unfriendly man who is just trying to get traffic.
Oh wait, that wouldn’t quite work would it? I guess you will just have to stay you and continue to entertain all of us. I guess we will just have to find unfriendly and smarmy men elsewhere. Now, if we only knew where we could find one…
I am a man (as far as all of you know) and I enjoy your site, Danielle. Please don’t let this guy get you down :)

Honey,
those of us who really count, your fans, know full well that you’re totally a girl. Think of it this way, someone is going to read that and stop by just to see what it’s all about.
And anyone that can’t see that you are a girl needs to get out more.

Thanks everybody for your kind words! I don’t give a flying fudge if this guy think I am a boy anyways - anyone who spent 30 seconds on my blog would know that is not true.
This theory of his assumes that all the people online are men, but there are lots of women online too and women make up part of the linkerati as well remember so maybe being a man could work to your advantage as well if the “linking and stumbling is not about the value of the content but about what body parts you have” theory is true. :P

I don’t like fake cheese flavoured things - I have never tried Doritos ever! The only fake cheese flavoured things I like are mac and cheese and those swiss cheese crackers.

Nuh uh :P Cheese Nips are like little squares. Sorta like Cheeze-Its but not so darn salty :D

Oooh - CheezIts are actually okay too! Okay maybe there are more things that are cheese flavoured that I like than I thought! But not Doritos because they are smelly and I don’t like the airiness of the cheesies! I love how salty the CheezeIts are.
