Blogthropology

So I added a new category to my blog: Blogthropology. These will be my posts relating to blogging culture, as they have not only been interesting for me to write, but the two posts I have written appear to have been enjoyed by others.

What does this have to do with internet marketing? A lot, in fact. Marketing is a science and an art, and it is one’s ability to step into another person’s shoes and to understand their condition that makes you capable of comprehending motivations that are of interest to marketers, online or otherwise. In order to appeal to “people online” you must understand “people online”, and not only understand them but be able to see through their eyes, which is the core purpose of anthropology. Are you seeing the connection?

Yes, I see the connection. I think you are writing new pages on the book of universal anthropology! PRETTY INTERESTING! You are either talking and teaching about these “online tribes”.

I think this new category in spanish is “BlogantropologĂa” :)

I love this subject. I like your point of view of those studies of the mindkind ’cause it’s very human in spite of this high tech age. You rock. Hope to be your spanish editor when you’ll publish your first book someday :D

I like what you said about discussing this being very human in spite of this high tech age - True True!

Yeah, it`s true.

I think people that is part of all of those online communities (including us) and people that does not should to know the things that you are saying.

It`s good to me to see someone it`s watching the “Web 2.0″ with other eyes like you. Most of the media writers when are talking about “Web 2.0″ only talks about the online services, the number of hits of the most important sites and the money that they are collecting, but no one is talking about the “essence”, about people, about the human nature and their social relationship with this technology, in the easy and intelligent way like you are explaining.

After all we`re human beings, not just “users”. :)

Hi Danielle,

I’m glad that you’re adding this as one of your categories. As one who majored in Sociology and took a lot of Anthropology courses, I should find this category quite intriguing. :)

Reminds me of the good OLE days doing research and studies, and the two types of observational technique: participant observation and non-participant observation. Good stuff. I’ll be looking forward to it. :)

Shine on,
Aaron

I’m not a sociology or anthropology major, but I’ve been a “people watcher” for years. I think you’re going to have a hit on your hands with this category.

This is going to take some study time to digest. Until then you have been tagged ;-)

I find it very easy for people to forget that they are not just “on the internet” they are dealing with real people.

This is not really a topic just for people who are interesting in this field of study either - as Sapheyerblu says “she is a people watcher” and really that is what I love most about anthropology. It is not something that you must “do” it is something that we all do if we have the ability to step outside ourselves when we do our “people watching”.

I hope this will becoming an interesting new feature for bloggers and marketers looking to gain insight into the community that is the blogosphere.

@Mike - Then my book would for sure be popular!!!
