BlogRush: 487 Visits Without Signing Up
, the blog traffic pyramid scheme, sends traffic to your blog by including your post titles in widgets on other blogs. You get credits for traffic sent to other blogs, and for people who sign up, which means your post title appears more frequently in the widget. Very high traffic blogs, for example Mashable, need only discuss this in a post, and have countless credits no doubt. For lower traffic bloggers, it is necessary to include the sidebar widget. It heard about it recently, but did not want to clutter my sidebar to get an extra 15 visits a day.
So how did I get almost 500 visits to my blog from a BlogRush widget?
Here is the post that received all the traffic:
Goodbye Wonderful World of Windows 98, Hello Feisty Fawn
Catchy title, I know. Since you can only see the first 40 characters in the title in the widget, then you see the first part of my title… which in itself is funny in the year 2007. That is what inspired so many people to actually visit my post, but to be honest it beats me how I managed to get onto the BlogRush widget without actually submitting my blog.
So maybe I will rethink my disregard for BlogRush. ;)

That’s pretty interesting. So far I don’t think it’s sent me any traffic. It’s moving further and further down in my already crowded sidebar as it fails to impress me

LoL Danielle, that’s a funny story. I haven’t had any traffic yet with mine, I don’t understand the thing as well as you do. Great post:)

Yo, Danielle.
One out of two :
- it happen, odds are will not repeat, while now the mlm-rush is not filled at full capacity and drive traffic more to certain than to who should, because of script algorithm. Later, when will become a notorious stuff, things will settle down and you`ll get accordingly to size of your downlist.
- or maybe is (again, and again-again) the matter of title (content) and not because of divine “rush”. So, after all, it return to you what any other would return - visitors - yet stumle, digg or whatever didn`t need a widget (page load slower) nor a free linkback to blogrush … :-)

I have absolutely signed up. If BlogRush can send that much traffic to my blog without me even signing up, I am so into this. ;)
It’s like magic… almost. That was a pretty funny title considering it is now 2007.

When I first installed the sidebar, I saw your post listed. This was on September 16th. I noticed you didn’t have the widget and I wondered how your post was listed. I actually saw it listed several times throughout a short period of time.
I came up with a snazzy title for my newest post and we’ll see if that helps! Have a great weekend:)

Alright, here goes. I ran across this blog from Tim Nash. I started reading it and it occured to me that he knows quite a bit about things. Check his blog out and tell me what you think about his skills in and understanding of seo.
I asked him about the blog rush widget and within 5 minutes he e-mailed me a link to his other blog which has a more closely related niche for discussing matters like this. Some serious niche focus! Anyway, I read his opinion about the widget. Go read this and let me know what you think:

It must have been some freak accident or something. The only thing I can think to explain is that some very successful blog listed my blog as one of theirs in BlogRush… either way… I am pretty happy with the “freak accident”.

They “seeded” the database, just in case it took a while to get off the ground. You got lucky, your blog must have been one of the ones they entered.
This is also partially responsible for the backlash. People click on the widget on their blog to read a story, and the blog they go to doesn’t have a widget. Some are cheaters, but some aren’t.

I got super lucky… I hope that by signing up I will continue to get as much traffic as I did (though it has gone done since the initial first 2 days of traffic).
