facebook groups for bloggers

Recently, I joined the “Bloggers of Canada” facebook group in order to begin networking with other Canadian bloggers. I have noticed that while I do have a few Canadian blogging friends I really want to expand the number of Canadian bloggers I converse with, and the number of Canadian blogs that I read.

The “Bloggers of Canada” facebook group was created by Mona of the Rebellious Arab Girl blog. Her blog, very personal and honest, is full of passion; she is passionate about the content she discusses on her blog and she is passionate about blogging. Mona sends occasional messages to other bloggers letting them know of blogging events, and updates to the facebook group. I have made a few contacts so far, and I am slowly growing the number of Canucktastic blogs I read.

Group Schmoop… What’s so special about facebook?

Yes, I am aware that are many groups for bloggers in many places and this is just one more place. But let’s get serious: no other site has 45 million users and counting. And I am going to tell you something shocking now: not every blogger is looking to market their blog. What!!?! Many bloggers just blog and don’t care about the amount of traffic they get. They just do it because they must. Furthermore: every blogger has a facebook account. It’s practically a law or something I think.

It is hard to “find all the blogs” when marketing and SEO is something that is really important to only a minority. What am I to search for? And I want to meet a very specific type of blogger - “Bloggers of Canada”. Have you ever searched for blogs based on geography? Search engines don’t work that way. And the tedium of sifting through a directory is like torture to me.

What type of blogger are you? Join a group. Can’t find the right group? Create one!

N.B. You might not get 45 million visitors.

Hot networking lead! Joined!

I recently joined the Vancouver Bloggers Meetup Group (http://blog.meetup.com/30/). Should you ever come out to Vancouver, they’re a very nice group of people to speak with.

Here’s a list of all of us who were at the last meetup:

Should give you a good place to start for the West Coast!

Thank you for the link love Danielle. I really have to go check out facebook. I know people who have found lost loves, long lost brothers and sisters, etc. on there. I have never even been to the site! I think I’m missing out.

Great post as always:) and I love your pumpkins that you added for Halloween!
