Happy Turkey Weekend Canadians!

It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada! I love turkey and stuffing and garlic roasted mashed potatoes and gravy - so today is a good day for me! I am just cooking up a storm, and thought I would give a shout out to all Canadians celebrating Turkey Weekend, and hopefully the person cooking for you is as good of a cook as me. :)

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Pink SEO Needs Help Thinking Pink

This month I plan to support the fight against breast cancer. It seems fitting as my blog is entirely pink. I want to encourage donations at the end of each post, and I also want to post on breast cancer issues during the month of October.

If anyone has any good suggestions for raising money this month, or wants to post a guest post on my blog on the subject, please let me know. I would like to help raise some money this month for the cause, or at least some awareness.  :)

All the monies made in October will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation on Pink Internet Marketing.

Goodbye Wonderful World of Windows 98, Hello Feisty Fawn

Here is the story of the old laptop: There is this old laptop sitting in my basement. It’s been sitting there, doing nothing. I tried to turn it on a few months ago and it would not boot. I had to reinstall an operating system. Since I was using all my Windows XPs on computers already, I had to install Windows 98 just to get it up and running. It turns on and a window appears that says Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows 98 or something along those lines. HaHa! So that was not going to do. But as if I am spending money on another copy of Windows XP. I have always been a Microsoft girl (I am my father’s daughter). But I said: Hey, girl, why not try Linux? Feisty Fawn appealed to me the most because the windows wobble. And apparently it is very user friendly and easy to install (which is true).

It’s almost done installing… I am so excited I could burst. Say goodbye to 1998! Goodbye Microsoft! (gee, next thing you know I will be getting a mac, joking, I will never get a mac)

Let’s Pause For a Brief Musical Interlude

I was watching YouTube videos and now I am all rock and roll. I hope you enjoy. :)

When having fun gets in the way of blogging

You may notice I am not around as much and post less frequently on weekends. Why? Well, unfortunately I am one of those girls. Those girls that put on high heels and a dress and got out partying on the weekend. I smile at boys, flirt with my waiter, do shots at the bar, and hide in a bathroom stall with my girlfriends and giggle. Yes, I am one those girls. In the back of my head, I am always thinking: Yawn! This is so boring. Everyplace I go is so lame. But I still go, and I continue to smile.

And lately I have been thinking: Should I blog or Should I continue to live it up on the weekends? But I am going out again tonight so I guess I have made my decision.

This is why I need to get myself a really good digital camera and start using the photos because some of the moments are rather priceless. And there would be a picture of a poutine at the end of each series of pictures. Yum.

Does having fun ever get in the way of blogging for you? I hope so. :D

Oink Invite?

A friend of mine at work was talking about Oink.cd and how she has been waiting 1 year and a half to find an Oink invite. Shot in the dark, but does anyone know how to get an Oink invite or does anyone have an invite they can give her? Sorry for this self-serving post, but it’s not totally self serving because it’s not for me, it’s for a friend. No, really, it’s for a friend! :D

Reading has shaped who I am today

I have mentioned being an avid reader, and so it follows that reading has greatly impacted how I view the world and I have gained so much from the books that I have read.

So here are some books that have shaped who I am today.

Human, All Too Human (Friedrich Nietzsche)

There is something for every free spirit in this book of philosophical aphorisms. I can even bear Nietzsche’s misogyny during some points in this book. I read it cover to cover years ago, and now I often read bits and pieces here and there. It is always on my desk.

A good posture on a horse robs your opponent of his courage and your audience of their hearts - why do you need to attack? Sit like one who has conquered!”

You know what you need? You need a blog.

Last night I went out with three girls (one was my friend, one is my new friend and my long lost twin sister, and the other thought she was better than the rest of us because she practiced… uh… restraint and self-discipline). We went to Under The Volcano, a Mexican restaurant in London, and had a great meal of nachos, flautas, quesadillas, four layer bean dip and onion rings. Oh and several pitchers of sangria. Yum!

Afterwards, me and my friend went to the martini bar and who did we run into but our waiter from Under The Volcano. He was wearing this cool sort of vintage T-shirt that said something about Texans making better lovers or something bizarre like that. We started talking to him and I don’t quite remember what I said, but he says to me: “You know what you need? You need a blog.” And I laughed so hard, and so did my friend. And in unison she said “She has a blog!” and I said “I have a blog!”.

It was super funny! And he was so right: I do need a blog! He asked me some web stats questions, and seemed pretty impressed with what I told him because I don’t think there are many high traffic blogs in town to compare me with, and it is pretty good what I have done with my blog in a few weeks. Of course after hearing a boy at a bar use the word BLOG I was all gaga and being a silly girl with a crush. :P But either way this was the first time that I had heard someone use the word blog in normal conversation, and here was the cute guy telling me I needed a blog. I don’t think he has a blog though, because he did not know what Alexa was.

So I was in this seocontest once upon a time…

Some of you may remember when I participated in an seocontest, and this was a real learning experience for me because I knew very little about search engine optimization and search engine marketing prior to my participation and now I would say I am a quasi-expert on these topics. When I have this blog all finalized, I will even have my own SEO blog where I will share much of what I have learned. And being a part of this has also had some positive effects on my life and career that I just have to share here because I am bursting with happiness and pride over this.

I work at Conversys in the production department, and for the first time ever, they are going to engage in online marketing and promotion. And guess who will do that? ME! Such a fabulous opportunity for me and I am so happy that I get to do what I love most. So my job description is changing slightly and I have only been working there for two months. I am going to engage in some very heavy linkbuilding, and as well there are some things that must be done with regards to their on-site SEO. As well, I am going to try to convince them to start an industry specific blog, as I truly believe that this is a good way for gaining exposure.

Yay!!! :)

Happy Canada Day!

Today is Canada’s national holiday! Happy Birthday Canada! Join me in celebrating our national holiday and do what I do - drink a nice cold beer and light off some bottle rockets in your backyard. I guess I could go watch the fireworks at the park, but they don’t let me light them. ;)
